"I've stayed for eight nights. Boy did I have a great time. I was made very welcome & the nautical decor throughout fell into my taste. The breakfast's was also very nice & filling. My hosts went out of their place to assist me & made me comfortable. I will definately go back there for another visit. I would also highly recommend it to any one looking for a great place to stay. Dirk & Denise thanks a lot. I appreciate everything you did for me. Regards."

"This was the last stop on our trip around SA and we had put a lot of thought into choosing to stay in Simon's Town rather than Cape Town itself. The Cheriton's great internet site swung it for us and we were not disappointed with our decision. We are a family of four so the Outeniqua Room with it's separate bedroom for the children was just what we needed. The d├ęcor and garden are lovely, there are so many details to take in! Everything is spotlessly clean. Dirk and Denise were superb hosts, helping us with directions to get to the nearby attractions and checking whether the cable car was open.. We loved sitting at the breakfast bar soaking up the morning sunshine and looking out over False Bay. Next time we will come in the summer so we can use that inviting looking pool and Jacuzzi"

"We stayed at Cheriton for one night and wish we could have stayed for many more. The hosts, Denise and Dirk, are friendly and gracious and made our stay a wonderful experience. This is one of the best guest houses in South Africa!"

- Andre F.

"Second time to Simonstown and second time at the Cheriton. Dirk and Denise just KNOW how to make a stay work right. They live to serve you and you feel exceptionally well looked after. No matter how early you can always be sure of a chat, a smile, and the best best best breakfast in town! Whether in a room, or the apartment (if available) you feel like the most important guest they've had! They look after you. I was on a film shoot which was very busy and I could not have functioned without knowing my needs, privacy, and comfort were being looked after by Dirk and Denise."

"Dirk and Denise have created a little magic in Simon's Town, as soon as we walked through the door we found their place very warm, cozy and welcoming, it exceeded our high expectations. We had an amazing view of the sea while eating a delicious breakfast. Boulders Beach and The Cape of Good Hope were very close. Our room was very comfortable and clean. Look forward to many return visits. Many Thanks and Kind Regards"

"It's hard to decide what's the best of a place which greatness is really the sum of many many details, big and small. I choose it based on the comments here and they all were so right. The owners, the service, the house, the rooms, the location, the view, the atmosphere, the breakfast... everything just works perfectly and is beyond your expectations, you couldn't ask for more value for money."

"Unlike other places that you can book online, here what you see in the website is what you get (actually, what you get is even better). The whole place invited us to spend a great time relaxing indoors, which is a problem when you have so much to do in a pretty little town. Our room was beautifully decorated and had anything we could need, and it was so cozy that one night we just stayed there relaxing and uploading pictures (the free wifi works great, something that you don't get easily in South Africa). The owners were extremely kind, friendly and helpful. And the best of all was breakfast: more than you can eat, everything delicious, in a lovely atmosphere and with an amazing view. Priceless.

Honestly, I absolutely loved the place and would highly recommend it."

"Great place to stay, I have used it several times over the years and it is my first choice of accommodation when I go to the Simon'stown, beautiful view over False Bay and the SMST harbour, always clean, neat and cosy. Owners friendly and unobstrusive but there when you need them. If I get the opportunity again I'll certainly return."

"Upon arrival you are met by very friendly person(s) (Dirk in my case). They explain and advice you how to make your stay as comfortable as possible. They readily assist you in renting car, booking tours, etc. The rooms of the B&B are big, nicely decorated. Every morning you have a breakfast in a terrace with a bay view. The price for the room is very reasonable."

"I have stayed at the Cheriton many times, not just for 1 night but for 6 or 7 weeks at a time.

You will travel many miles to find a better place to stay.

Great hospitality, comfortable rooms, excellent food & those extra personal touches from the hosts which make you feel at home.
The views from the deck are stunning & it is great to have a wonderful breakfast out there.

I stayed there on my own & always found interesting conversation with the other guests most enjoyable.
I did not have a car but was able to see all the sights, walk into Simon' Town etc or use the excellent tour guide personally recommended by Denise & Dirk for trips to other places on the Cape Peninsula.
If you are a first time visitor this must be top of your list of places to stay in the area."

"I am so sorry to make this review. Why? Because I can't find anything bad to say about this great guesthouse in Simons Town. And good reviews gives lots of customers and could end up being hard to book! Next time I would like to stay at MY guesthouse, so please do not overbook this place ;) Denise and Dirk are fantastic hosts, helpfull, have a great sense of humour(very important!) and have made their guesthouse cosy. Now let the stars talk for the rest..."

"I have stayed at Cheriton on 3 occasions and cannot find fault. Denise and Dirk are personable and approachable and without effort create a homely atmosphere. It is the perfect place to stay if you are attending the navy or SAMTRA but also for a holiday or weekend. There is a lot going on in and around this little town but for access to Cape Point it is ideal. I loved the honesty bar, the rooms are fantastic with a ship theme and decor. The beds are superb, rooms are all different but with a constant level of excellence. The breakfast is fantastic and really sets you up for the busy day ahead. If I had any complaint it would be lack of AC for the VERY occasional warm night. To sum up, there is no reason for me to consider any other guesthouse and I won't, Cheriton is my home from home. Thanks Denise and Dirk, see you again....Warm Regards,"

- Rodger from Dubai.

"I took my mom for a short break-away from home and the Cheriton Guest House B&B was the best discovery I've made! Our garden cottage with its private entrance was very charming and we loved the naval theme throughout the entire place. The garden with all its interesting curios and beautiful array of birds was charming and very tranquil. They employ friendly, helpful and polite staff. Breakfast was a scrumptious feast and sure kept us going throughout the day! A charming, clean & homely place with a personal touch and where we will most certainly stay again. Highly recommendable."

- Erica P. Cape Town.

"Staying at this guesthouse is like being on a voyage on a ship from the SA Navy of bygone years. Each room is a combination of old world maritime charm and modern, high quality facilities. Each room has a particular historical connection and equipped with comforts that make you feel "at home" the moment you step through the doorway. Shops and restaurants are within walking distance. Transport will be required if intending to visit tourist attractions on the peninsula, but the train will get you to Cape Town and back."

"My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights for our honeymoon! We are from Chicago so I really did my research into everything for our stay in South Africa. And boy am I glad that we stayed here! Dirk and Denise were fantastic. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and reasonably priced. The breakfast was delicious and my husband and I would be so full that we didn't eat again until the evening. The location is great. Minutes from the ocean and penguins was a huge selling point for me!

The service is unbelievable. I have never had such incredible experience before. During our trip I had a pinched nerve in my neck which put a damper on things but Dirk and Denise really went out of their way to help me out in finding a physiotherapist to help me. They made some calls and set up an appointment for me. I can not express how much I appreciated that! They are very caring!

All in all was a fantastic B&B and when we go back, which we will, we will be staying at The Cheriton!"

-Taz N. Chicago U.S.A.

"The Cheriton web site gives only a hint of its fascinating decor, ambiance, and comfort. The thoughtfulness and attention to detail amazed us and the rich bird life in the garden was an unexpected bonus. Denise and Dirk are superb hosts who made us feel completely at home. There was a spirit of generosity that we liked.

Our stay at the Cheriton was a wonderful experience and we highly recommend it to other visitors."

- Robert M. Cape Town.

"I've now stayed at the Cheriton twice, and I can honestly say that I'll be going back as often as I can. First of all, the location is incomparable. Located a stones-throw from the ocean in picturesque Simon's Town, it suits every need. Only a short walk from the main street running through town, it offers seclusion from the hustle and bustle of the crowd for those who seek it and the world class ocean front restaurants for those who seek such. If you want to go to the beach, it's there. If you'd like some local color, there are multiple markets in town, all within walking distance.
The establishment itself is superb. The rooms are all beautiful, clean, and well equipped. The bar down stairs is extraordinary and totally unique. The staff is friendly and helpful and will do their utmost to accommodate any needs one might have, whether it be dietary needs or advice on a pleasant tourist attraction. The owners, Dirk and Denise, are constantly doing their best to improve their establishment so I have no doubt that next time, it'll be even better. For a trip to Simon's Town, there is no better.

Room Tip: You can't go wrong."

"During our visit to Simon's Town in the first days , we stayed at this very beautiful and cozy B&B. Denise and Dirk and all of the staff do their best to make you feel welcome. The bedrooms are spacious, very clean and quiet and the house is nicely decorated in a navy style. There is a nice pool and a spa, and a beautiful garden plenty of birds (super cool if you love bird watching, as I do!). The breakfast is very good, with bacon, eggs, toast, confiture, juice, fresh fruit and nice coffee, which you can enjoy from their balcony and have a lovely view of the sea. The B&B is very well located, at walking distance to the beach and downtown area. You can rent a car and visit the surrounding towns of the Cape Point Route, and go up to Cape Point, a marvelous national park, with outstanding landscape. A bonus that my husband and I really appreciated: Denise and Dick's huge DVD collection! They have all of their DVDs catalogued and numbered, so you choose the ones you want to watch in your room for free!
Thanks Denise and Dick for your hospitality!"

"Our stay at the Cheriton was one of the best in South Africa!
As soon as we arrived on Christmas eve Dirk and Denise helped us find reservations for our Christmas lunch (we completely forgot to do it beforehand) and they gave us a few good tips to enjoy our stay in the area. Wonderful people!
As if Simon's Town and all that the area has to offer wasn't enough, the b&b has a quirky pub and lounge filled with all sorts of oddities, collections upon collections, that would keep everyone occupied and entertained. The guest really feels at home with Dirk and Denise as they engage with you in the warmest and sincere way.
Will definitely go back to stay with them if we find ourselves again around the Cape Peninsula."

- Dana F. Ireland.

"Exploring the Cape and looking for a "safe haven"? Cheriton Guest House is the definite place to be! We experienced a warm welcome by hosts Dirk and Denise, a stay in a nice and comfortable "naval" oriented room and breakfast with whale viewing at the breakfast deck! The Cheriton Guest House is ideal situated for visiting the Cape Peninsula and Cape Town and was our relaxing starting point for a five week trip through Southern Africa. Dutch and German oriented host Dirk is capable to arrange "meet & greets" with Baboons, Whales and even Great Whites! Next time we'll try the Bicycles and Jacuzzi as well!"

- Greetz, J&E, Netherlands.

"By now we honestly cannot rremember how many times we have stayed at Cheriton - we were most likely there just after Dirk and Denise took over Cheriton.Since then they have just got better and better. The most minute details are receiving constant attention and it is this ability to be "in tune " with their guest, that makes staying there such a pleasurable experience. Your room - all of which are themed on South African Naval vessels - are impeccable maintained whilst you are out enjoying yourself ( I like the Sherry bit), and breakfast is an absolute pleasure. Dirk speaks (I think) four languages which helps when you are constantly dealing with International guests, whilst Denise and her staff will rustle you up a breakfast as good as you get anywhere in this world. If you want not just a B+B, but an experience, when next you are in the Cape Town area, give it a try - you will be amazed!!"
